Mental Health Service
The Mental Health Clinic is a ‘stepped care’ primary mental health model of care, which delivers an integrated, seamless approach to health care.
The Langimālie Mental Health Clinic is based in Onehunga and is available weekly on Wednesdays.
The team consists of an Advanced Senior Psychiatric Doctor (Dr Staverton (Tony) Kautoke) and a Mental Health Nurse Specialist (RN Makoni Havea) with clinical oversight and supervision provided by Dr Siale Foliaki (Senior Consultant Psychiatrist). They are all Tongan and can speak fluently in Tongan and English.
The service intervenes in the least intrusive way, from self-care to services across the secondary and non-government organisation continuum, in order to get the best outcomes, enabling entry and exit at any point based on needs.
Extended general practitioner and nurse consultations
Brief alcohol interventions and assessments
Individual packages of care covering: cognitive behavioural therapy, medication reviews, counselling and psychosocial interventions
Group therapy where appropriate.
More about the service:
We are a team of experts in mental health. We specialise in diagnosing and treating people with mental illness.
We have a deep understanding of physical and mental health and how they affect each other.
We help people with mental health conditions such as schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, eating disorders and addiction.
We provide a collaborative approach and work alongside you and your family and your family doctor.
We provide evidence based practice and can provide some counselling and education about your illness. We can also refer your care to the secondary mental health services in Counties Manukau Health and Auckland City Hospital if required for more intensive care and management.
